The Meta account, formerly called Business Manager, that owns your WhatsApp accounts, pages, ad accounts and the people who can manage them.
A business portfolio is the container Meta uses to represent your company. It used to be called Business Manager, and you will still see both names. It holds your Facebook pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts and WhatsApp Business Accounts, and decides which people can do what with each one.
It matters because your WhatsApp number belongs to a WhatsApp Business Account, which belongs to a portfolio. Business verification, messaging limits and payment details all sit at this level. If the portfolio is owned by a former employee's personal profile, or by an agency, you can lose control of your number.
Set it up under your company's legal name, add at least two trusted administrators from the business, and keep the business details matching your registration documents. When you connect WhatsApp in Marichi Talks through Meta's sign-up, you choose or create the portfolio during that step.
