Collect the details you need without leaving the chat
WhatsApp Flows open a short form inside the conversation, across one or more screens, so customers can sign up, answer a survey or request a booking without visiting a website.
Why a form inside WhatsApp
Asking for several details one message at a time is slow, and customers drop off halfway. Sending them a link to a web form loses them to a browser. A WhatsApp Flow opens a proper form right in the chat, and the customer is back in the conversation as soon as they submit it.
Answers you can use
Because a form has fields, the answers come back structured: a name in the name field, a date in the date field. That is far easier to act on than a paragraph of free text typed into a chat.
- Sign-ups: collect details from a new customer or lead in one go
- Surveys: ask a few questions after a purchase or a visit
- Bookings: take the details for an appointment or a callback
Several screens when you need them
Longer requests can be split into screens, so the customer sees a few questions at a time rather than one long page. Keep each screen short and ask only for what you will use.
Part of the wider conversation
A form works best as one step in a larger journey. Open it from a chatbot when the customer chooses to book, or from a template button after a purchase, and continue the conversation once it is submitted.
Questions people ask
Does the customer need to install anything?
No. WhatsApp Flows open inside WhatsApp itself.
When should I use a form instead of chatbot questions?
Use chatbot questions for one or two quick answers. Use a form when you need several details together, or answers in a fixed shape such as a date or a choice from a list.
Can I send a form to someone who has not messaged me?
Starting a conversation still needs an approved template and the customer's opt-in. A form can be opened from inside that conversation.
How long should a form be?
As short as you can make it. Ask only for what you will act on; every extra field is a reason to stop.
