RCS is the upgrade to SMS built into the messaging app many phones already use. Instead of plain text from a short code, the customer sees your brand name and logo, a verified badge, and messages with pictures and buttons, without installing anything.
Messages people can act on
A plain text alert tells someone something. An RCS card lets them do something about it there and then.

SMS fallback built in
Not every phone or network supports RCS. When a message cannot be delivered as RCS, it goes out as SMS instead, so the customer still gets the essential information.
Where RCS fits next to WhatsApp
WhatsApp needs the customer to use WhatsApp. RCS reaches people in their default messaging app. Many businesses use both: WhatsApp for conversations with customers who prefer it, and RCS or SMS for alerts that must reach everyone.
One contact book, one wallet
RCS uses the same contacts, consent records and pay-as-you-go wallet as every other channel on Marichi Talks, so adding it does not mean a new tool to learn.

Does the customer need to install an app?
No. RCS works in the messaging app that comes with the phone, where the phone and network support it.
What happens on phones without RCS?
The message is sent as SMS instead, so the customer still receives it as plain text.
Do I need to verify my brand?
Yes. RCS shows a verified brand name and logo, and that verification is done before you can send.
