Printing it well
A QR code that does not scan is worse than none. A few habits keep it working:
- Print it at least 2.5 cm wide, larger if people will scan it from a distance
- Keep the white border around it; the scanner needs that quiet space
- Use SVG for print shops and signs, PNG for documents and social posts
- Put a line of text next to it, such as "Scan to chat with us on WhatsApp"
- Scan the printed proof with two different phones before the full print run
Know which code brought the chat
Use a different pre-filled message for each place the code appears, such as "Hi, from the shop counter" or "Hi, from the delivery box". The first message tells you which one is working, without any tracking.
Questions people ask
Does the QR code expire?
No. It encodes a wa.me link directly, so it works as long as the number has WhatsApp. There is no redirect that we could switch off.
Is it free for commercial use?
Yes. Print it on anything you like.
Do you keep the number I enter?
No. The code is drawn in your browser and nothing is sent to us.
Can I change where it points after printing?
Not with this code, because the number and message are inside it. If you think the number may change, print a code for a number your business will keep.
