A pre-approved message format a business must use to start a WhatsApp conversation or message a customer outside the 24-hour window.
A message template is a message you write once, submit to Meta, and reuse. It can include variables for names, dates or amounts, a header with text or media, and buttons. Once approved, it can be sent to any customer who has opted in, at any time.
Templates exist to keep WhatsApp free of spam. You cannot start a conversation with free text: the first message you send, and any message after the customer service window has closed, must be an approved template. Each template has a category (Marketing, Utility or Authentication) that decides how it is reviewed and priced.
Write templates to be useful on their own: say who you are, why you are writing and what the customer can do next. In Marichi Talks you create templates with headers, buttons and variables, submit them to Meta, see their status, and import or export them between workspaces.
