The problem
Customers in Dwarka were already sending their grocery lists on WhatsApp, but the store had no orderly way to handle them. Earlier messaging setups had caused problems with its WhatsApp account, so the weekly offers that brought people in did not always go out, and sales suffered when they didn't.
What they set up on WhatsApp
- Weekly offers and new arrivals broadcast to opted-in customers
- Grocery lists received on WhatsApp passed straight to the team that packs them
- Tags and reminders for regular customers, so nobody's order is forgotten
- Automatic answers to common questions about stock and delivery
What changed
According to the founder, WhatsApp orders grew from about 10 to 15 percent of daily sales a few years ago to 40 to 45 percent today, and overall revenue grew by around a quarter.
